Jump down to find what to do and where to stay in Brisbane
Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland and home to some 2 million people. It is a city full of character, redesigning itself in recent years to become a hustling and bustling cosmopolitan society.
It is located in the south-east corner of the state and nestled in against the Brisbane River, the CBD is walkable with some of the buildings dating back to the 1820's.
Brisbane promotes itself as the city of sunshine and smiles - it isn't hard to comprehend why, mixing a sublime climate with the nearby playgrounds and the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise and the Sunshine Coast. Closer to home you will still find some quiet beaches at Moreton Bay.
But Brisbane is first and foremost a capital city of increasing importance - therefore shopping (try the funky Queen Street Mall), eating and drinking are all high on the agenda and well provided for.
