Adelaide/Darwin.
On boarding the Ghan in Adelaide, we were immediately made to feel at home. Ushered to our respected compartments, we were offered full security and comfort for our journey to come. This departure time was 12 noon; so our first encounter with the rest of the train began with lunch in the Dining Car. Five Star food and service was the beginning of a super luxury experience. Evening meal was preceded by drinks in the Lounge Car. Another superb meal, followed by a night cap in the Lounge and off to a very comfortable nights sleep.
Day two offers the option of tours in Alice Springs. We opted for the Cultural Tour. A wonderful insight into the local peoples way of life and culture, which is ongoing today. Back to the comfort of our train for the night.
Day three offers us another choice of adventures to pursue in Katherine. Here we've opted for the Katherine Gorge tour. Our boat is skippered by a young indigenous fellow with all the skill and knowledge that one could hope for. This evening sees us arriving refreshed in Darwin.
A journey to be remembered for a long time.
Best Bits - The wonderful service and meals provided in such a limited amount of space.
Worst Bits - Nothing comes to mind.
