This was one of our first days out in Dunsborough and we'll be back.
The reason for the title is Tom the horse. He is a very greedy horse. Loves his carrots. Now, whenever we drive past, which is often, the kids all shout "hello Tom..."
Speaking of carrots, this is what the whole place runs on. You are given a bucket on arrival and then you are free to distribute as you see fit. Obviously holding some back for Tom.
The main attraction is probably the rabbits, guinea pig and parrots shed. They like carrots and there are a lot of them. Just by the shed, if you are lucky (we were) some tame kangaroos come down to feed. Being essentially overgrown rabbits, these to enjoy the odd carrot.
Also up for a carrot are the alpacas, llama, donkeys, sheep, cows and ponies. Not forgetting the ducks, geese and a cockertoo called Joe. Or Tom.
Every hour the fairground round-about is cranked up and all the kids jump on.
There's also table tennis and a boating lake, this was dry when we were there, but will probably be less so now after the amount of rain we've had here the last couple of days...
See you soon Tom.
They were building an indoor soft play area - which'll be great in the winter.
UPDATE - play area is now built and is fantastic, "Tom" is actually Tim - but remains Tom to us...
Best Bits - Carrots
Worst Bits - The boating lake was lacking water...it is full now after 3 months of winter rains!

We have been to CLF 3 years in a row from when our daughter was 8 m old and we absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
There is so much to do and so many different animals to interact with at close range - including a splendid peacock! My fav is rowing the little boat in the lake and feeding the kangaroos, my daughter loves the GIANT bouncy castle and holding the baby guinea pigs and my husband loves the racing cars.
City kids just don't get to experience this kind of interaction with animals- the birds in the huge walk-in enclosure land on your head and the goats, sheep and horses are literally eating out of your hands! The grounds are very shady and great for a picnic with so many swings/play equipment scattered around.
Did I mention the merry-go-round? (v. noisy but lots of fun). Last year, the owner was finishing off a MASSIVE indoor play room and we can't wait to try it out when we holiday down there in Feb 2010. So put the 'old clothes' on the kids and get down there!
