Sea Lions are somewhat under-rated in my opinion. Every-one dreams of swimming with dolphins, but having done both I'd put the humble sea lion right up there...
The sea lions that we swam / snorkeled with live year round on a small island just off the WA coast at Jurien Bay. It's a short boat trip to get there. Captain Ian said that they never fail to turn up - so a guaranteed experience.
There must have been a dozen of so swimming with us and more that remained on the island. They were incredibly friendly, coming right up and touching - not that you should touch them. When you dive down they dive with you and do a few turns and somersault and the sea lions did the same - great fun.
Best Bits - meeting the Sea Lions.
Worst Bits - water is still pretty cold in October.
