Meelup Beach is situated a couple of miles drive (or coastal walk) north of Dunsborough.
It's definately a family beach - in a sheltered bay, beautiful sand and (usually) calm water. This is a truely picture postcard "cove."
There are good facilities here - non-Australian's will have no concept of how good public facilities are here. There is the usual shower block and barbies that are found at many of the more heavily used beaches - but rest assured that it is never crowded bu European standards. There is also an ice-cream in peak season.
Behind the beach is a lighted wooded area, with the affore mentioned barbies and picnic benches.
Meelup is an idea place to spend the afternoon and stay on for tea overlooking the bay.
This beach actually reminds me of some of the isolated coves that you find, if you make the effort, in the Spanish Balearic islands.
Best Bits - Meelup is a great family beach with all the facilities.
Worst Bits - You're unlikely to have the place to yourself.
