A good way to experience the forest in the company of an expert guide is to ride the Pemberton Tram. It departs from Pemberton twice a day, destination Warren River. But it is more about the getting there (and back)!
In the company of Bryan, our most informative guide, we meandered slowly through the forest, stopping now and again to be shown interesting features. These included information on the local flora, mainly the trees and its many uses. “Topics” also ranged from the tallest trees, to the local history of the mill, to the battles fort in North Africa (using local horses.) I doubt two trips are the same – and it was genuinely interesting.
There were a couple of breaks for ten minutes each to walk around the forest and alongside the river.
Super child friendly, my son was allowed to start the tram and drive it (despite my warnings...)
Would recommend – particularly to young families and those less able to get around the forest on foot.
Best Bits - The guide, beautiful forest.
Worst Bits - None
