This is one of the favourites for the kids and I Iove it also.
I'm sure that Redgate has its moments for the more committed surfing dudes, but why I like this particular MR beauty is beacuase it is where my kids first learnt the joy of riding a wave to shore. The waves seem to break a long way out for a shore break - I assume because the beach is gently shelving. Therefore, they will some times break again giving young kids there own manageable surf, once the grown ups have had first dibs, of course.
So, sea wise it is pretty perfect - not 100% safe - but safer than most around here.
The beach itself is fairly accessable, about a 5 minute walk through the dunes from a pretty big car park.
And the beach is above above the usual Margaret River 5 star plus standard. Perfect sand, perfect translucent azure blue green water. Fantastic.
There are also some big rocks on the car park side which can provide some shade - or, if you are three years old, a sky high platform to repeatedly jump off and put your Dad into a early grave...
Best Bits - Great place to learn to ride a wave - or go further out and enjoy the surf first hand!
Worst Bits - None
