Enticed in off Caves road on the promise a cheese platter, we were not disappointed.
Being the middle of winter the place was not at all crowded - we were the only guests initially, later a couple arrived and then a small group.
The setting is stunning, overlooking the vineyard and the valley. There is a nice lawned area in front of the cellar door and a balcony to the rear with the valley views. We sat on the lawn as we had the dog with us and this was the most appropriate place for her.
The cheese platter was really good, biscuits, brie, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, etc...$25 for two.
The wine was very good, semillon sauvignon blanc 2009. Fairly fruity, light and sweet - great with cheese. Also good value for the high quality.
Virgin Block has a Mediterranean feel as a consequence of its architecture. We liked it.
Best Bits - Cheese and wine.
Worst Bits - Cheese platter could have had a wider selection of cheese.
