We chose the Watershed Vineyard as we were near Margaret River and wanted somewhere to eat with a children's playground. We found another gem!
Situated just a few clicks south of Mags, just off the Bussell Highway, the Watershed Cafe and Restaurant overlooks its own picturesque vineyard and lake. The view is hard to beat.
The set up is somewhat unusual, though it really works. You enter through the cellar door and sample a few wines (recommend the rose and that isn't something that I've written before.)
Then housed in the building behind is the cafe and restaurant. Same building, same room, cafe to the left, restaurant to the right.
We ate in the cafe - tight as ever...fish and chips - very nice. We looked at the restaurant menu, which was good. Both reasonably priced, the cafe is probably just over half the price of the restaurant. Both have won many gastronomic awards. They share the same wines...
Service good, setting good. It is quite a trendy place and I would imagine it gets very busy in summer - it was fairly busy in the middle of winter! You can't book so turn up early to bag a good table.
Best Bits - Outstanding view. Great food. Reasonable prices.
Worst Bits - Can't book. I am guessing that this is because it is bound to be very popular.
