We’ve just spent a very pleasant couple of nights at the Diamond Forest Cottages in Pemberton. We stayed in cottage 4, which is a pet friendly cottage, with a fenced off area outside for the dog.
The cottages are located off the south west highway, just south of the diamond tree, about a 15 minute drive to Pemberton. The location is stunning, karri forest out the front door and picturesque farmland outside the rear – east facing, which means watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee whilst sat on the veranda. Looking out over a well kept lake (where we later fished and used one of the complimentary canoes.)
It is a hobby farm, the owners, Mark and Jenny, are “in training” before buying the real thing. That said, it has the most animals of any of the farm stays in the area. Horses, donkeys, an alpaca, sheep, cows, chicken, rabbits and trout all enjoy a well laid out and lush setting! Animal feeding takes place at 9am – very civilised and you just help out with whatever needs doing.
Also on the grounds was a games room, with TV, table football and air hockey – all complimentary. DVD and videos were lent out at no charge as well.
The cottages themselves were spotless clean, cedar on the outside with pine cladding on the inside. They easily accommodated 2 adults, 3 young kids plus dog. Big plus was the wood-burner and supply of logs. Slight let-down was the small portable TV – although Mark said that he had replaced this with an LCD in cottages 1 and 2 and that 3 and 4 were next to do. We used the bbq for cooking.
2 nights were no-where near long enough to fully enjoy the farm and the local area, so we will definitely come back. Thank you Jenny and Mark for a lovely stay.
Best Bits - Fantastic views, spotlessly clean, plenty to do, lovely owners.
Worst Bits - Small gripe about size of the TV.
