We booked this hotel largely as it was available! Our usual choice in Perth being fully booked due to some local surf competition.
We like "aparthotels" as they usually offer more than one bedroom (we stayed in a two bedroom apartment) and a bit more space than traditional hotels - on this criteria the Mounts Bay didn't let us down.
The hotel is fairly central and it is particularly "lucky" as there is a stop for one of the excellent free bus services right outside. We used this quite a lot to get around as it stopped at the train station and ferry dock amoungst other things.
The hotel itself is fine - four star is about right. The reception was helpful (we had about 15 bags...), there was internet access both at reception and in the rooms (at a cost.)
The rooms were big and well fitted - not 5 star, 4 star... The TV had foxtel which is a bonus.
The breakfast was very good - would recommend this.
What else? Parking was free - good (Mantra was $20 per day.) Pool was small and cold - not so good!
Staying again, I would ask to be located away from the freeway.
Best Bits - Location - five minute walk to town and a stop outside for the Perth Free Bus service.
Worst Bits - Location - freeway view...but at least it was not noisy.
